DIY Lamp

Project Goals

A design project focused on re-creating table lamps made by other designers. The exercise focused on the execution of sketches, a cardboard prototype, and a final recreation.

My Work

After studying many images of the Caillou Lamp by Simone Cagnazzo, I created sketches of the lamp, its components, and its features, and identified possible materials.

Details

I extracted the different shapes needed by analyzing and sketching the lamp from different perspectives. For the prototype, I cut the cardboard shapes precisely using a laser cutter and bent them into shape. The recreation uses PVC flexible plastic for the top, a steel cylinder for the base, a threaded rod and nuts to connect both bodies, and a light bulb.
