Alivio
Wearable for a disability
Project Goals
This design exercise dealt with creating a wearable or implant that could fix or improve a disability.
My Work
I worked with a partner to create a wearable that would improve the side effects of photophobia, such as migraines.
Details
Our product, Alivio, is a wearable that releases tension on the pressure points found at the base of our skull and the edge of our shoulders. The wearer pulls at the cords to tighten the frame on to the body and apply pressure. This gives them relief, thus minimizing pain from migraines. It was created by laser cutting acrylic plastic, then heating and bending it into an organic shape. Flexible rope is used to press semi-spheres attached to the frame into the pressure points.
